Nice review but after upgrading to LR5.2 RC I think performance is better than with LR4. Working on a project with 1500 D800 NEFs my impression is that the smart previews increase speed while working in the Developer mode – in Lib. mode however everything slows because the JPEG previews are used. So far I am not sure how the Jpegs are used as previews when you have the smart previews (DNGs) available. But have to say that I am happy with 5.2 RC although I will say bye-bye to LR the day they make it part of CC.

I just upgraded to Apache Flex 4.9.2 on July 10, 2013, which included an upgrade to the Flex SDK. This should help improve performance on older machines. But I quickly ran into a problem when I installed flex SDK 4.9.2. It seemed that the Flex SDK didn’t know that I had installed apache flex 4.9.2 (instead of the 4.9.1 version I’d previously installed), so it silently downgraded flex version to 4.9.1. Far from being happy with that, I tried to downgrade flex 4.9.2 to 4.9.1. But that was not possible. All I could do was uninstall and reinstall the Flex SDK, hoping that it would install 4.9.2 to begin with. That did not help. On the contrary, I received a warning message saying that I had an incompatible-flex-version error. After a few more hours of testing, I realized that flex version 4.7.2 (which comes with Apache Flex 4.7.2) installed without a problem on my machine.
