There’s some new stuff, like Generative and Content-Aware. Generative is the ability to create a new object from an existing one, and content aware will make your image cut out things that don’t belong. Unfortunately, it also means it’ll attempt to pull eyes from people. Don’t worry, it’s a nice clean cut, with no weird scars. There was also a photo to video mode, and some new filters. But they’re not new tools, they’ve mostly been added to the new interface.
There’s little performance to speak of, except that it seems to load more quickly. I suspect that, since CS6 has a larger user base, the increase in memory use is negligible. I do wonder, however, if some of the crashes I’ve been having might have been due to the larger memory.
The level of integration with the operating system is excellent. The Photoshop Elements improvements in the latest version are unlikely to be compatible with CS6, but I really hope they take the time to go a similar route to what Elements has done.
